Yo guys, what’s up??
Hope you are still sticking to your new year resolution. As for me, I am just too lazy to even have a resolution this year or every year. Anyway, if you don’t have any like me then don’t get disheartened. We still have a whole year to do something better. Let’s start with something that you should do daily. Cleansing with the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser.
Cleansing is one of the must do thing for me before going to bed. By cleansing I do not mean washing my face with just face wash. I mean full on removing every bits and pieces of dirt, makeup and oil. But some days you are just too tired and lazy to do a 10 step cleansing skin care routine. And that is why I began searching for a cleanser that will clean my skin without drying it. I also totally hate the feeling of tightness and dryness after washing my face. I hope you can relate.
In the process of searching for a mild cleanser, I found the gem, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser. The brand, Kiehl’s has always intrigued me. I love the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate which I have been using for quite a long time. Lets get started.

Full List of Ingredients
Aqua / water, sodium laureth sulfate, decyl glucoside, glycerin, cocamidopropyl betaine, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, acrylates copolymer, peg-200 hydrogenated glyceryl palmate, lauryl glucoside, sodium chloride, pentylene glycol, triethanolamine, phenoxyethanol, peg-7 glyceryl cocoate, distearyl ether, behenyl alcohol, methylparaben, laureth-2, propylparaben, sodium methylparaben, squalane, prunus amygdalus dulcis oil / sweet almond oil, prunus armeniaca kernel oil / apricot kernel oil, tocopherol, ascorbyl glucoside, persea gratissima oil / avocado oil, sodium hydroxide, citric acid.
Apricot Kernel Oil
Apricot Kernel Oil is extracted from apricot kernels and has a very high Vitamin E content (aiding fast absorption) and is a trygliceride composed of 75% oleic acid and 20% linoleic acid, and unsaturated fatty acids esterified with glycerin – similar to avocado oil and sesame oil. Found to be highly compatible with the skin. Apricot Kernel Oil moisturizes and softens skin while helping retain clarity and suppleness.
Avocado Oil, derived from the fruit of a tropical American tree, is a rich, fatty-acid emollient. Avocado Oil is known to be the most moisturizing of any fruit oil. It is also a natural source of Amino Acid proteins, Vitamins A, D, E, and potassium. Helps to restore the natural moisture of the skin.
A signature Kiehl’s ingredient, Squalane is a botanical lipid that is similar in molecular structure to natural skin lipids. It has an exceptional affinity to skin, and because it’s easily absorbed, Squalane helps restore skin’s natural moisture balance to keep it extra soft and supple.
- Apply small amount to clean fingertips
- Gently massage into damp facial areas in upward, circular motions
- Avoid immediate eye area
- Rinse thoroughly or remove excess with damp wash cloth
Packaging & Consistency
It is a simple white plastic tube with screw on cap. Nothing extravagant. The tube has all the information that I mentioned above. The cleanser has transparent gel like consistency. Tiny bit of amount is enough to clean your face. It has a bit medicinal like fragrance, which I am okay with.
Price & Availability
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser comes in two sizes. The 75 ml will cost you INR 895 and 150 ml size will cost you INR 1400. You can get it from their stores. I think they do deliver through their own website to your home. You can also get it from Nykaa and Amazon. I got mine from Nykaa. If you just want to try then you can visit their store and may ask for samples. They are quite generous in that category.
Though I have combination skin, but my cheeks tend to be more towards drier side, because of which I have to be really careful with what face wash I use. Mostly I go for cream based face washes. this is the first time I tried gel kind of face wash.
Although the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser does not lather much but on coming in touch with water the consistency changes to emulsified thick version and then it foams a bit. As they mentioned, the cleanser does remove makeup making my skin feel really clean. If you have heavy makeup on then let it sit for few seconds till it breaks down the makeup and then you can wash it off. I really don’t mind that it does not exfoliate because I have always preferred to have a separate scrub rather than a combined face wash. I think those small beads in the face washes doesn’t help much in scrubbing anything off of your face.
The best part I like about the cleanser is that it really does not dry your skin. Although I do apply moisturizer immediately after washing my face (which is a habit) but there was less tightness and I felt my skin to be softer.
It is no way a natural product based cleanser, so if your skin is really sensitive and prefer soap free cleanser then this will be bothersome for you.
- Convenient and travel friendly packaging
- Mild and gentle on you skin
- Removes makeup, oil and dirt
- Small amount is enough for one wash
- Does not dry your skin
- Skin feels soft after cleansing
- Few of you may not like the medicinal smell

If you are in search of a multi purpose cleanser that really helps in removing all the junks from your face then this is it. I would honestly ask you not to depend on this for cleansing your pores and scrubbing purpose. I do not have sensitive skin, hence I would request you to try samples before buying the full size. The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser has really helped me through the cold winter season and I would recommend you to try it too.
And that’s a wrap. It was a bit long post, but I tried to be as informative as I could. If you still have doubts then do comment below. I would love to be of any help.
