I have always wanted to try few products from Avène and when I finally got some extra cash to spend, I just went directly to the store to get the Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel. I have heard too many good things about few of their products to ignore the brand and the packaging absolutely stands out too.
The gel claims to gently remove impurities from the skin and helps reduce excess sebum without drying out the skin thanks to an innovative ingredient: Monolaurin. It leaves the skin clean, clear and refreshed. It can also be used as a shaving gel for men with oily skin. Soap-free and paraben free, its formula is hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.
How to Use It
Use Cleanance Soapless Gel Cleanser morning and evening on your face and body. Apply to wet skin, lather and rinse thoroughly. Remove any remaining traces of makeup on the face and soothe the skin by spraying with Avène Thermal Spring Water.
Now, I am using it almost every day, especially in mornings when I need a gentle cleanser. At night, as I prefer using an oil-based makeup remover and a the Jovees Face Wash for stronger cleansing. You may read about the Jovees Tea Tree Face Wash here.
Packaging & Texture
Avene cleanser comes in simple bottle packaging. I find the bottle packaging is super sturdy and very travel-friendly. The blue-green cleanser has a beautiful lightweight gel texture and runny consistency. Just a pea size amount is all you need.
The first thing I noticed was the fresh, very mild fragrance that my sensitive nose totally loves. It makes me feel cleansed and relaxed. Being a ‘soapless cleanser’ it does not lather much. Because of that, it is easily possible to go overboard with its usage but after a few uses, you realise that you actually need a very little quantity for your entire face.
It rinses clean and gets rid of all the dust, dirt and light makeup on the face. Although if you do have some heavy makeup, you might want to use a makeup remover prior to this as I do not think, this cleanser will clean it all off.
Avène Cleanance Gel is especially for oily to acne-prone skin. I have combination skin but it worked really well on my skin too without making my skin dry. The gel also helps to soothe and mattify your skin. It contains Monolaurin, an ingredient that has been designed to regulate sebum production, helping your skin stay oil-free.
People say that as the gel has Avène Thermal Spring Water as the main ingredient, it is instantly cooling and soothing and leaves your skin looking fresh and soft to touch. But I can not vouch for the effects of Avène Thermal Spring Water as I have not yet tried it. But it is now definitely on my to try list.
There seem to be more pros than cons. Availability can be a bit problematic. I purchased mine from Health & Glow and have not seen it in any other store. The price is definitely on the higher end. You will have to pay INR 1400 for 200 ml. But, as I mentioned before, little goes a long way hence it will last you for months.
